Hi everyone!
My lenovo prebuilt pc is 5 years old and one day it crashed during operations ( i think it was during linux distro installation).
It won't boot after power off and on, nor cmos reset using battery or the jumpers (though I'm not completely sure about which pins serve what role - there are 2 jumpers, one with 3 pins and the other with 2. I think 1 is for cmos clearing and the other to disable intel me - as its written near them on the pcb). I also disconnected all non necessary components (all but cpu and ram). I reseated the ram, cpu and power connectors.
The only times the pc did boot were when I disconnected all the fans (including CPU fan) from the mobo and then, an American megatrends screen appeared with warnings about the fans. There were 2 beeps (POST codes).
Then, I was able to ignore (f1/f2) the warnings and proceed to config the bios/regular boot.
Some times the bios got stuck (due to cpu heating, I suppose), and then I tried to recreate this situation (triggering ami screen).
most of the times I failed (the pc just wont show any display), but I managed to recreate the situation for several times.
The furthest I could go was even beyond the bios and boot. I successfully entered to the linux image written on a usb stick I connected to the pc, and it started loading the image. But at some point pc got stuck, then I shut it down and since then I couldnt boot it..
Currently when I boot the pc, the fans start spinning and the cpu gets warm, but no post code beepings/display. Also it seems pc cant recognize the keyboard (no light turns on when pressing caps lock). The only things that light up are the Ethernet port lights.
I wonder what is the problematic component, and whether I should investigate it myself / go to pc repair shop/give up and buy a new pc (though i have a pretty low budget...).
Thank you very much!
