So I got a computer that wont boot up.
The model is unknown , except that it says Lenovo ThinkPad Edge.
The problem is that after the Lenovo splash screen it asks me where do I want it to boot from but when I do that to all the options it just flashes and doesn't do anything , and no one has a similar problem.
I tried to boot from HD , CD/DVD and tried the Lan just to see if it does something but it doesn't do anything.
Any solutions?

It won't boot from media that doesn't have a bootable operating system. No bootable optical disk, then no CD/DVD drive booting. No network booting service, no Lan booting. The hard drive should have something to boot from if you just bought the computer, but it is possible the hard drive is either not even there, dysfunctional, or the hard drive was replaced without Windows being put on the new one.

If you are comfortable with a screw driver and have a desktop with an extra SATA cable, you could remove the laptop's hard drive and put it in your desktop to test it. If not, then one thing you can try is downloading minitool's partition editor, burning it to a CD or DVD, and booting the lenovo with it to see if the hard drive is working or not.

Neither of these will fix it, but they may at least tell us what is wrong. I'll get a link for the partition editor, give me a bit.

So the computer isn't mine nor it is bought brand new , someone brought it to me so I will fix it.
If I try to choose anything from the boot selection it won't let me and only if i set to default all the bios settings I get a boot from HD even though I have the CD at a higher priority or an external CD.
I am suspecting a problem at the bios but I refuse to just let her the computer unfixed.
But is there any way I can fix the problem with the boot select , I would accept the computer would take a bit of time to check if the boot location has an OS but it instantly flashes me back.
Meanwhile the computer is doing a sector check&fix with over 1k problems with 1% checked.
If anything new happens I will update.
And blazorthon first I need to find a solution to the boot selection problem , I am sure that the problem is there and not in the HD because i placed an external CD with a Hiren's boot CD and it works.
Fixing the HD is the least of the problem here as all I need to do is hope that it works or to backup a file from there.

P.S. the computer did get through the windows splash screen but it got stuck right after , and that is why I ran a sector check.

You could try flashing the BIOS according to Lenovo's instructions on how, but if the method requires the computer to be working in the first place, then I don't know how to fix that. Without knowing the exact model, I don't know if I can find the instructions on how to flash the BIOS.
