I upgraded my CPU in a Leonite P5LP-LE motherboard to an Intel SL9QQ and it runs the temp up to about 80c and winds my fan up like a top. What can I do?? I ordered this: Dual Fan CPU Cooler Heatsink quiet for Intel LGA775/1156/1155 AMD AM2/AM2+/AM3 (Checkered fins , tough tyle, larger heat transfer area Dual 6mm heat pipes , 95W optimum solution
80mm silent fan , 112mm high degree of compatibility, performance and practical perfect fusion CTT technology, thermal distance , speed and enjoy.) from Ebay.
Will it help?

I'm sorry to bring this thread back but it seems you have a bad CPU cooler, capnzathrus.

I also use an HP P5LP-LE Leonite board (HP part # 5188-8917) with BIOS version 5.23 and the Intel Pentium D 945 CPU (SL9QQ) in my board seems to go up to 55-60 degrees celsius (and not 80 degrees celsius). The CPU cooler that I'm using with this Pentium D 945 CPU is a Cooler Master Socket 775 Copper Cooler (Heatsink & Fan) that I ordered from this Amazon site:
https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Socket-Copper-Core/dp/B001FBEIVK

also, use a high quality thermal paste like Arctic MX-4
https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-MX-4-Compound-Performance-Interface/dp/B0045JCFLY

the SL9QQ processor that I have (when not stressed) runs between 25c to 40c because I used a "copper" based CPU cooler, which is needed for dual-core CPUs like Pentium Ds and Core 2 Duos.

then that Intel Pentium D 945 processor (along with the Cooler Master 775 copper cooler) won't run so hot.
