Looking for use primarly to run GIMP, larger files with Adobe, and lots of saved docs and images. Using it to do research on the run and create manuscripts.

Budget about $480 and other reputable alternatives ok. I keep equipment for a long time so reliability is important.

Well from my experince leonovo doesn't build good laptops...they heat up quickly and they use poor HDD so yeah, I would recommand you a MSI or a Dell laptop.
