Question Less brightness after unlocking the screen

I have an Asus ZenBook 13 OLED (UM325SA) with AMD Ryzen 7 5800U and Windows 10. After locking the screen and turning off the display, the screen appears visibly dimmer when unlocked, even though it shows as "maximum brightness". If I decrease the brightness by one step, the screen immediately becomes brighter. This is a brand-new system set up just yesterday. Whether it’s plugged in or not makes no difference.

What I’ve tried:

  • Searched through power modes (only "Balanced" is available) and settings for adaptive brightness, but the option does not exist.
  • Disabled Fast Boot.
  • Checked AMD Adrenalin for Vari-Bright or Panel Self Refresh, but these options are not available.
  • HDR is off.
  • Issues with MyAsus can be ruled out, as I haven't installed it at all.
  • Firmware, drivers, and software are all up to date.
  • UEFI is very limited; I have no options that could affect this issue.
I'm at a loss. Does anyone have any ideas?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Disabled Fast Boot.
Re-enable it.

Firmware, drivers, and software are all up to date.
Your laptop is on the latest BIOS version?

Manually reinstall the latest chipset drivers sourced from here;
https://www.amd.com/en/support/down...sets/amd-ryzen-and-athlon-mobile-chipset.html

Use DDU to remove all GPU drivers(Intel, Nvidia and AMD) in Safe Mode, then manually install the latest driver sourced from here;
https://www.amd.com/en/support/down...yzen/ryzen-5000-series/amd-ryzen-7-5800u.html
installing in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.
