I always thought it wasn't necessary to defrag a ssd. In fact, that it was detrimental to defrag the SSD. But Win 10 insists on defragging it on a regular schedule unless I disable the schedule. Has something changed, or is it still detrimental to let Windows 10 defrag the SSD?

Solution
windows 10 shouldnt be defragging your ssd but, rather, performing a trim operation.go to defragment and optimize drives and select optimize drive for your ssd.run it and i bet it will perform trim rather than defrag.

Oh! You're right. I never paid attention to what it said because it always did it in the background. I just assumed it was defragging like it used to back in Win 7 days.
