I am unable to delete the web addresses in the Address Bar in the Task Bar. I tried all the obvious and usual procedures (right clicking 'delete", highlighting then clicking 'delete' etc.) but they always immediately return.

It may not be the same but I had a similar issue and it turned out to be a faulty keyboard, one of my keys was stuck down. Type into the address bar the unplug the keyboard then try deleting with right click and see if it that.

I've never been able to figure out how to delete them either. Can't even overwrite them. Seems like a design flaw to me.

Well. CCCleaner WILL, get rid of them but it also removes other visited web addresses in your browser bar at the top of the page.
