Tossing up between these two monitors, they seemed to be the best in my budget for an IPS monitor, needed some help picking.

Leaning towards the AOC, but I've read a couple of bad reviews and not sure whether it's worthing leaving behind an A list brand like LG with reputability and good customer service to risk it on a potentially good B brand.

Both monitors are AU$259, but the AOC is 25", whereas the LG is 24"

My primary uses are film editing, movies and gaming.

TIA

Out of the two, LG without a doubt. You will not regret it.

However id suggest, for an extra $27, going with 16:10 1900x1200 monitors less than 27" in size. Samsung business class monitor, still great for games, is the S24E65. Its PLS - samsung's version of IPS.

its an extra 120 lines (+11% screen of area) and good vertical height. $286 from EYO, $299 from MSY and others.

Samsung have 0 dead pixel policy and some of the best monitors for calibration out of the box. You wont find that monitor on the consumer junk TN pages on their website, as stated its business class.

I upped from a samsung 16:10 24" to a 27" 16:9, to a 32" 16:9. 16:9 24"s look tiny and especially so with vertical height at that size.
