Hi,

I have LG DVD super multi writer (LG GH24NS72). I am facing some weird issues while burning my steam game backup into dvd. Sometimes the burning fails, this is sporadic. Other times the data is burned but Nero shows 'Burning failed' error. When I put the disk back in and check, it has all the data. There are also times where I have around 2.5 GB data and no matter what I do, after moments the burning starts Nero gives the error again and ejects the disk. I put it back in and try to redo and now the dvd is corrupted. I have installed the latest firmware GH24NS72_WM02-00 from LG website. Device manager says the driver is up-to-date. I have already lost around 10 disks due to this. Please help!

Thanks,
pKal

Cold be a bad batch of DVD's, had this with some from well known retail chain, while cheapos from local computer shop worked fine.

Rather than use Nero, what happens if you use Windows own DVD burning tool, remembering to close the session?
Beware of "Other times the data is burned but Nero shows 'Burning failed' error. When I put the disk back in and check, it has all the data" . Cause you better do a verification since windows might show all your files with the relevant capacity but the file might be corrupted.

Yes. You can check using another software like ashampoo. It's a solid burning software. Also did you try using different brands of DVDs? cause now aday's DVDs are very cheap and also poor in quality.

Thanks for the warning. I installed Ashampoo Burning Studio and was not able to burn disk at the first attempt, here is the log:

14:41:59: Starting track analysis
14:41:59: Track analysis completed successfully
14:41:59: Preparation completed successfully
14:41:59: Recording at 16.0x in track at once mode. The recorded DVD will not be finalized.

14:42:01: Prebuffering completed.
14:42:01: Recording DVD
14:42:01: Writing track 1 Length: 4,216 MB
14:48:42: Could not write to device
14:52:41: Average write-speed: 10880 KB/s or 7.9x.
14:52:41: DVD recording completed

You can see that it has waited for good 10 mins before giving the error.
