LG monitor HDMI power saving mode

I have an LG w40 series monitor that I'm trying to hook up to my brand new Lenovo desktop that's literally right out of the box. My previous computer took a dump so o bought a new one and it constantly went into power saving mode with the old one and it's doing it with the brand new one too. It does it with the d sub cord and also with HDMI. Please help because I'm supremely frustrated right now and may end up breaking something

Sounds more like a problem with the monitor or cable. Do you have another HDMI source you can try, laptop, tablet, DVD player?

That reads like he bought a new tower, not a new monitor
