I hit a streak of bad luck and my 1155 board for my 3570 gave up the ghost.

I’m struggling to no end on finding an lga 1155 motherboard unless it’s pre owned

Should I just gamble it and go second hand or are there any around that I can buy new? Whenever I search for them it just shows me 1150 etc

Any help would be super appreciated!

The P8Z77 will perform better as you can slightly overclock your CPU with it. That one will do the job though and honestly if you don't want to throw too much money at an old platform its fine.

Literally the worst thing you could buy unless you are desperate. It won't mount in a standard case, its a SFF board and proprietary to Dell.

OP if rgd's link doesn't show anything for sale near you secondhand is the way to go. Those boards are long out of production.

Yeah its probably not really in stock.

The ASUS Maximus V Extreme was one of the best boards of that time period, and there are plenty on eBay. It is expensive though. Whats your Budget?

Ideally not a crazy mount as once I go over a certain point I may as well keep the money and put it towards a new mobo/cpu.

But £93 seems pretty damn reasonable!

Thank you all so much guys super super helpful!

Yeah at his price range I was going to recommend the same thats a good board and readily available on eBay.

Like that ever MEANS anything. At all. Seriously? To me that really just shows a complete lack of understanding about how all this works AND that's not even counting the recommendation being completely unrelated to the question that was asked in the first place. I'll leave it at that.

My point is it is probably reliable seller. The platform is kind of old and I won't spend ~100 on it anymore. The mb is not impressive but probably works. I am not saying it is a very good mb. I know you like Z chip mb, yes, I agree Asus Z77 is a much better choice but also expensive.

And you missed the point of calling out the ridiculousness of a Dell SFF motherboard of all things one that may not fit in a standard case (since many Dell SFF boards have their own mount layout), doesn't have a port shield available, and the automatic assumption that because hes not running a new processor he should buy the absolute cheapest thing available to survive. Who the hell cares about the eBay seller, theres a TON of 1155 aftermarket boards on ebay all with reputable sellers that don't have the issues a Dell board would have.

Yes, in all probability, that Dell SFF motherboard is proprietary. There are some that are not, but most of the OEM SFF boards only fit the specific case it was designed to be used in. Major modification is necessary to make something like that work in those cases. That would result in an even more expensive fix.

Threads a bit old but if you search on eBay a bit you can find some pretty good deals on a Asus Maximus extreme iv or a gene-z which are fabulous motherboards if you plan on overclocking and in general, if you get lucky you can get a Sabertooth on the cheap, for me I’m going with a gigabyte-z77x -up5 and I have a i5 3470, hope this helps!
