[SOLVED] LGA 2011 confusion

So, I’m planning on getting a i7 3930k and I am so confused on how the sockets work. I believe it’s a sandy bridge cpu which means it’s a 2011 0. So if I get a X79 motherboard not labeled v2 then it isn’t compatible? And would cpus such as a 1650 v2 or a 4960x work in a mobo not labed v2? Any response appreciated

All X79 boards are socket 2011 and support the Sandy Bridge-E/EP and Ivy Bridge-E/EP i7 cpus. Socket 2011-3 is the X99 boards and support Haswell-E and Broadwell E. Never seen socket 2011V2. There are some Xeon V2's but they are just socket 2011.
