Out of the loop with Intel products, so kind of a noob question but here goes.
I am thinking of picking up a Pentium G4400 CPU for a mere $25 for a kids build. I see I'll need a LGA1151 board but just want to make I can use any chipset or is that specific? Also if I ever upgrade the CPU I should be able to plop in any i series that is supported right, or will the chipset again be an issue?

Solution
Once you've narrowed in on a motherboard, go to that board's support page. There you'll find a CPU Support List that shows all of the processors that are supported on that motherboard.

No. Specific motherboard chip sets support specific processors. You cannot just drop any old socket 1151 CPU into any socket 1151 motherboard. PC Part Picker does a decent job of setting up compatible products. I'd suggest going there https://www.pcpartpicker.com/ and adding the G4400 to a new build. The see what motherboards are available.

Ok thanks...Yeah I already was checking out some mobos that way, but man it's gonna suck to try and figure out which i3 or i5 will be able to swap right over in the future.
