LGA2011-v3 — Does the CPU Socket cover touch the pins

Upon inspecting a new motherboard I bought for a friend, I touched the plastic CPU socket protection cover, and found it to be quite loose and wiggled it about lightly. Did I damage anything? Now I know that chances are it's fine, but IF, just IF, the plastic cover does touch the pins, and i've bent the pins, I don't know what to say... I'm a bit anal about these things and i'm looking for some assurance... I can't open it up because I need it to be new to give my friend.

No, that plastic cover shouldn't touch the pins unless it breaks.

Like he ^ ^ said, it should be fine. You can always open it and check. It clips back into place just fine. There are a lot of pins there but it should be easy to spot any bent pins. I have a board right here that has bent pins, easy to spot.
