Limit the bandwidth my computer can use

Hi, I was wondering how I could limit how much bandwidth my computer uses. Whenever I try to download something large nobody else can use the internet because it is too slow for them. When I'm downloading something my download speed is 800kb/s, how could I reduce this too 400kb/s for example.

i do that by using jdownloader as my download tool and telling it to limit to a certain speed, 300kbps or something like that, so others can see netflix or youtube

You need to check the "QOS" or "bandwidth shaper" features in your router.

those features are not present on every router

the control on the source, using a download manager is more simple and is efficient
