Hi there. Yesterday I brought home the 240hz monitor from AOC - the Agon 251fz. For me, the overall experience with this monitor is great, except for one little detail.. I'm stuck at 144hz. I'm using the DisplayPort 1.2 cable that came with the monitor, and I can't go above 144hz. I'm out of ideas.. I'm writing this in the hope, that one of you clever minds on here, might know something about this issue. I'm speculating that my GTX might be outdated - I hope not.

I have an AOC Agon monitor too, but its the 144/165Hz model. To find the OC mode, you open the monitor menu, go down to bottom option (its called Extra on mine), then the second entry is overclocking. Maybe you have the same menu structure and this helps you finding it. After setting the Hz you want, you must use the function to accept and restart this in same menu point where you set it, otherwise it reverts back.

But this is for overclocking from 250Hz to 251Hz. Not sure if this helps you, because you stuck on 144Hz. Is it possible that you got wrong monitor?
The fact it's detected as a "Generic PnP display" is likely the cause. The GTX770 should be able to accomplish it via DP1.2, so I doubt that's the issue.
Try reinstalling your nVidia drivers.
Once the display is detected accurately (and is detected as supporting 240Hz), it should be an option for you to select in both Windows and nVidia control panel.

I fixed the issue of my pc recognizing the monitor as a generic PnP display, though without any effect what so ever. This is what it looks like now, trying to achieve 240hz:
