Limiting HD modifications

Hello please bear with me.

I work for a college and we are using dual boot for the IT classes. The second partition is for the students to save work and experiment with a different OS. The issue we are having is that when student boot into the second partition they are able to erase data from the local HD.

We have deep freeze on the local partition but when they access it from second partition they can modify and deep freeze is ineffective.

What would you suggest to solve this issue.

Have you considered installing the second OS as a Virtual machine within the first. I'm assuming you're using Windows Professional/Business or better as your primary OS.

They want to use hyper V and are unable to do so in a virtual environment

What do they need hyper-v for? My knowledge of hyper-v is somewhat limited but as far as I know it's for running virtual machines.

About the only other option I can think of to make a dual boot system where one OS cannot interact with the files and folders of the other OS is to install each OS onto seperate hard drives, make the hard drives removeable and swap the hard drives so that only the currently used OS/HDD is installed in the computer.

The instructor wants the students to have some experience with installing and using Hyper-V.

As far as removing the HD every time they want to use the other HD would be a tedious task since we have 20 stations in each room, with 3 or 4 classes everyday.
