Question Lines across screen, contrast control does nothing

I have an IBM PC Convertible that has lines of missing pixels, as in any attempts to place anything on the screen in those areas ends up in the line(s) of missing pixels to not turn black. I’ve fiddled with the contrast control and it seems to not help. Is there any way to fix this?

From the way you've explained it, it seems that the issue is not with contrast control but rather that the display is damaged or has given up.
