Hello everyone.

My question is about wireless repeating. I've googled as much as I know how.

I have access to a internet network that has a password. I have the password and internet works fine. I have my own router. A Linksys WRT54G3G-VN router and I'm trying to connect my router to the other network. I'm basically trying to make my router repeat the single of the first one but have no password. It needs to be a wireless connection because I have no lan connection from the first router.

Thanks and feel free to ask questions.

A repeater doesn't let you change any of the configuration of the original (main) wifi router (except maybe the channel). It just repeats everything the main router transmits. So if the main wifi has a password, then you're not going to be able to remove it with a repeater.

If you don't want a password, then remove the password from the main router. If you don't have access to remove the password from the main router, then you shouldn't be trying to repeat it stripped of the password.

If you just want to plug in multiple devices using your Linksys for the wireless link, see if it has something called client or bridging mode. If it does, you can use that to connect to the password-protected wifi network - your Linksys will be...

If you just want to plug in multiple devices using your Linksys for the wireless link, see if it has something called client or bridging mode. If it does, you can use that to connect to the password-protected wifi network - your Linksys will be acting like a glorified wifi adapter. Any devices you plug into the Linksys router's LAN ports will then have network access as if they were connected to the wifi network. If the Linksys does not have client or bridged mode, see if there's a way to install DD-WRT or OpenWRT on it. Those 3rd party firmwares support client and bridged modes.
