hello, i just bought a LITE ON LH - 20A1L from newegg. drive installed fine, reads DVDS and CD just fine.

the problem is, i have burned a DVD successfully, and this DVD reads on this drive, but the disc appears blank in my laptops drive and as well as my standalone dvd player.

im using verbatim DVD+R discs, this media has worked fine for 100's of discs out of an older (samsung) TSSTCorp sh-s182. which strangely enough DOES read DVD's burned by my lite-on LH-20A1L.

driver version 5.1.2535.0
driver date 7/1/2001

im trying to find a newer driver/firmware or something!!!

can someone please give advice!! thanks!!! :hello: :hello: 😗

well, appears i have the newest firmware, BL06, date: 2-13-2008

hmm, ive NEVER had probs with ANY dvd burner before, dang this is frustrating

WEllllll, the laptop not seeing it it weird but the stand alone may not be able to see the kodex in which it is recorded ???, and you do have the same software on the laptop,,right, check your stand alone's docs just to make sure, and maybe try some dvd-r discs.otherwise do the RMA thingy and get an LG dvd, I know lite-on is a good name, but they are the supplier/builder for so many others that it makes me a little paranoid that things might get mixed up from time to time,,,and just for the exercise make sure that all your connections are good and solid, had a similar problem and traces to an improperly mounted cable, otherwise it's RMA time???:>)
PS,,,Get in touch with "The Egg" maybe they will suggest something...

**** this is ridiculous, discs burned on this burner wont read on other stuff. drive must be bad, will RMA if i dont hear any other options from anyone

Have you tried another DVD+R disc? It may just be one bad blank DVD. You did say you only burned one (1) DVD. Also, make sure it checks the data integrity when it's done. I think you may have used discs that your laptop and DVD player do not support. Out of all my DVD drives, my DVD burner for my PC supports the most formats, second to my laptop, than my standalone DVD players for TV.

Before blaming Lite-On, try burning another disc of the same model. Usually firmware updates expand compatibility, but you already have.
