lithium ion polymer battery question

Hello,
So I have this question, I got this new laptop and it has lithium ion polymer battery. It is a gaming laptop and it does not have a long battery charge. I was wondering if I constantly play and charge at the same time will it reduce the battery charge over time? Because I had different laptop before this one and it lost battery charge the more I charged it at 100% charge (I do not know what battery that laptop have).

if the laptop is on a desk most of the time...pull the battery there only so many charging cycles they can take. if you moving it a lot and need the battery, then at some point the battery will wear out and need to be replaced.

To answer Your question, just use the laptop.

Here's why: Heat, time, and cycles kill batteries...in that order.

To extend the life of a battery:
(1) Keep the laptop's battery cool.
(2) You can not affect the age of the battery, unless You replace it every so often.
(3) Reduce the charge/discharge cycles, by only using the battery when needed. The problem is that if You never used the battery, it's not good for anything.

The reason charging it while using the laptop is not a problem is that:
(1) The laptop is engineered to not let the battery get too hot. When running of AC power, the AC adapter is powering the laptop. It can also charge the battery. There is no significant extra wear on the battery from heat. If it really bugs You, get a cooling pad.
(2) The battery will be recharged eventually anyway, so there are no extra cycles.

Bottom line: keep it cool, and don't worry about the battery charging while the laptop is in use.

I know some laptops will not power up if the battery gets disconnected but if yours will work with the battery removed then make it so... most batteies will only last 500 to 700 charge cycles before they begin to degrade and fail ...
Why keep charging a batery if your not using battery power (IE in a desktop mode with AC power) ... better to save it.
