HI - I am trying to troubleshoot the connection on my PC. I'm semi-savvy with this stuff but not totally so i'll explain the problem and what i've done so far to t/s.
I have a Linksys wireless router with a couple LAN connections (that work fine) and a secured wireless network.
I can get to the wireless network with excellent signal strength with my laptop, which is running windows XP pro SP3 with an internal dell wlan card.
I cannot get my PC to connect - it keeps saying limited to no connectivity. FYI I'm in an apartment complex. My PC is about 3 ft from my router, same as where I used my laptop without issues. I'm running win xp pro with sp 3 as well on this computer.
I have 2 possible adapters to use on the PC, a belkin USB one and an internal Belkin one. I tried setting the USB one up on this same PC in the back bedroom about 30 ft or so from the router and got the same error. So I have now installed the internal card thinking it could have been my USB hub. The PC is now 2-3 feet from the router. Same error.
Belkin has it's own utility that tries to configure the connection and windows and it seemed to be battling it out in my task bar so I set it to use windows and shut off the belkin software.
Then I set my channel to 1 and unsecured the network to test it and I can connect to the web fine.
When I resecured it and used the key to get access to it, it connected but said low to no connectivity and I couldn't get to the web.
This is where I stopped...i don't want to risk not having a secure network and it makes no sense why unsecure works but secure doesn't.
It doesn't seem like it could be the wireless adapter in the PC because it worked when it was unsecured. The router itself seems to be working fine since the ethernet connections and my laptop wireless connection work fine, and the PC connects when unsecured.
So I'm at a standstill and not sure where to go from here.
