[citation][nom]fellskrazykayaker[/nom]I think we've gotten way off the original subject which is the MacBook Air We could probably go back and forth all day. We have a difference of opinion but I guess to each his own. Thanks for providing some good examples and not just hating Apple for no reason. There are plenty of good reasons why a Mac doesn't work for you. But there are plenty of good reasons why only using a using PC doesn't work for me. I guess I'm an OS whore. [/citation]

True true.

[citation][nom]deanjo[/nom]Bull. Switchers do it in the beginning to use as a "safety blanket" after they become familiar with OS X 9 times out of 10 then access this help document on how to remove windows after realizing they are not missing anything in OS X.http://docs.info.apple.com/article [...] 15554.html The only ones that tend to keep Windows installed on their Mac are either gamers or users that require very specialized proprietary apps that are windows only. Fortunately that user group is a very small portion of the average computer user market even in the PC / Windows world.[/citation]

Where are you getting those stats? I know of many mac users who still use Windows, none of them have stopped. In fact I don't know of any Mac users who DON'T use Windows in boot camp. They aren't all gamers either. My sample is small though, a couple of dozen people.

The link you posted was an apple help page on how to remove windows, not an actual stats page. You'd have to link a 3rd party study, not one from Apple's sites... I mean, they tell everyone that PCs are loaded with viruses and are always borked... something that isn't entirely true...

"The flip side of this is that these stats seem to indicate that you have to be a math genius to use Windows... At least up through Vista..."

What about the rain stat? What it suggests to me is that to be hoodwinked into dishing out 50% more for hardware you can buy cheaper without a logo, you have to be mentally deficient. The rain stat suggests that apple fanboys are mostly show boys who aren't rigorous about their pursuits. Anyway, I don't hate Apple. I do see Steve Jobs as a case study in the history of manipulation and propaganda. I still remember some years back when every moron in NYC who wanted to look tech-cool would pull out a palm organizer while in the subway. These days the same morons pull out a macbook and once again prove to the technocracia how dumb they are for having bought nicely cased logoed crapware.

Lots of places. Unlike you I have been supporting thousands of Mac users as well as Windows and Linux. I have also worked as an Apple Tier 2 agent and support a universities Mac users (over 10,000 macs at the Uni alone). Unlike you I also know well over 300+ former Apple support reps who can quote that article off heart.

What article? You linked an apple support page, not a statistics page. For being an uber tech supporting thousands of macs, you fail at linking.

I think it's great you support so many computers, but you underestimate my experience as well. I also once supported thousands of computers, PCs and Macs at a college (I have since moved on) Macs were not popular there, everyone pretty much hated them except the artsy people who thought they were so superior.

My current sample of Mac users is few because I'm not counting random thousands of people who use macs at the college, I'm counting people I actually know with macs at home, and that number is few and far between.

Why do you know so many "former" apple support reps? That's a lot of people who quit their job. It must suck being an Apple Support Rep. Dealing with stupid PC users is bad enough, and I know first hand that dealing with even more ignorant Mac users is worse so I can't blame them for quitting.

[citation][nom]applegetsmelaid[/nom]Steve Jobs needs to hit the weightroom. I feel sorry for the person who has to see him naked.[/citation]

That's entirely uncalled for and distasteful. I hope you're aware that he's been through pancreatic cancer. Hate Apple and Mac all you want but picking on a person for his appearance due to illness just makes you a douche. I hope you never have to see a loved one go through cancer like I have. It is the most awful and painfully crushing thing in the world. 🙁 Whatever your platform ideologies are, this type of comment is unnecessary and provides nothing to the discussion. Grow up.
