Hey guys so I am going to be updating by BIOS with Q-Flash and I was watching a guide on how to do it. After he updated his bios he went to the bios and clicked Load Optimized Defaults.

Would I want to do this or no.

Solution
The link you sent just goes to the front page of the board's site. But if you are sure that is your MB in the link, then any of the ones on the download/BIOS page will be the correct one. The newer versions have been added over time as fixes and improvements come along. Get the latest; version F7 (or F8a BETA).

If your MB has rev 1.0 or 1.1 in the corner by the audio header, that is the correct BIOS. Don't worry about the pic of the MB, they probably took those pics when the MB first came out and had no reason to change them.

Generally you can roll back the BIOS if you find some reason the new one doesn't work well for you, but that almost never occurs.
The reason for that is because a BIOS update will set the new BIOS to its default settings which are usually the 'failsafe' settings. Enabling optimzed defaults will put the MB in a better mode for performance. Also, If you've made any changes to the original BIOS you'd like to keep, record what they are and go into BIOS after the update (and one boot to Windows to be sure all is well), reset those changes.

Okay, I do not THINK there are any changes. Would I be okay if I reset to optimized defaults? I was watching a video and the guy loaded optimized defaults then changed a ton of other numbers. Would I NEED to change anything

He may have had his BIOS set for overclocking... it's hard to say. If you didn't enter BIOS and make any changes with the old BIOS, you should be good to go by simply enabling optimized defaults. Btw, what MB do you have? Did you change your SATA mode from IDE to ACHI before you installed Win7?

Well If I did make any changes it would be when I first got my computer. I haven't entered it since, and I don't remember if I made changes. I have a GA-970A-UD3. I was going to use Q-FLASH. I can honestly say I am not sure what SATA mode from IDE to ACHI is.

If you don't know the difference from IDE to AHCI, then it's probably safe to assume you didn't make that change. So, forget about that. That is a late model MB and may already have that setting as the default. All that is, is setting the SATA mode for your drives to a slightly faster mode.

Btw... there is a Windows-based pgm on the MB driver DVD called @Bios that allows you to do an automatic BIOS update while in Windows 7. You may want to look into that if you are unsure about doing it from inside the BIOS itself: http://www.gigabyte.com/webpage/20/HowToReflashBIOS.html
It's really easy. It will search out the latest BIOS for your MB so you don't accidentally grab the wrong one. I've used it several times on my Gigabyte MBs.
If you haven't already found it, here is the web page for your MB for more info and downloads: http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3907&dl=#ov

Well thing is I had someone help me setup windows. So I don't know what they might have done. But yeah I have that, but have heard it can cause many problems or a fail flash if you do it inside of windows. I know how to do in it BIOS now. Also could you help me confirm that this is my proper bios I would want? Just to be sure.

As I said I have GA-970A-UD3 and I THINK it's rev 1.1 because that is what the motherboard says. So I think this is it, but there are so many different revisions. I noticed the one in this picture also has 0.2 on it, which seemed odd to me. Would this be it.
