This is a new board and Windows has proved to crash on a regular basis. It
has an Athlon 64 1800+ and a Corsair 512MB PC 3200 DIMM. MEMTEST86 shows a
range of memory errors and they differ each time that the machines starts
up. All hardware is brand new and is running of a new 400W PSU.

All memory settings are set to AUTO and the system is not being overclocked.

Does anyone have any views about what could be causing this ?

Thanks

incompatible memory!!!! asus boards are finnicky about memory even when the

Sounds like bad ram to me. Try using a different stick of ram and run
MEMTEST to try and isolate the problem to a bad dimm. I have had this
happen with many systems. RMA & warranty is your friend.

I've guessed this much and the DIMM has gone back to be swapped for another
brand. The vendor assured me that the two would work together. Their
advice is usually good and given Corsair's reputation, I expected that the
Value Select DIMM should have worked.

Is there a known issue with regards to memory matching with this board ?

I got the memory from www.dcs.uk.com so what they sell is what has to go in
the board. Does anyone see a 'guaranteed' match ?

Thanks
