Local Area Connection doesnt have a valid IP config every hour or so

I just built a new PC with a fresh install of windows 7. Every hour or so the internet will go out, all I have to do is click troubleshoot problems and it fixes it saying "Local Area Connection doesnt have a valid IP config " and then it works fine for another hour or so. It gets very frustrating.

It's not the router, every other PC in the house works fine. Wireless is fine too.
It's not a virus, this is a fresh install of windows 7 with literally nothing but firefox on it.

i have read several pages of google and nothing seems to fix it. I have done a hard reset as well leaving it unplugged over night.

Did you try to assign static IP addresses? Did you install all windows updates? What is the name of the network adapter ?

All windows updates are installed, adapter is Realtek PCIe family controller. How do I assign a static IP, or rather, what do I assign it to?

I installed another network card and it still does the same thing. Nothing I do seems to help, I have read several pages of google answers and none of them work.

Did you try using a static IP that won't conflict with DHCP?
