Boss's computer has lost its connection to the internet. I've tried resetting the modem to no avail. My computer is hooked into the same modem and gets internet just fine. I tried turning off ipv6 and set the ipv4 address but no luck. when I run his Ipconfig this is what I get

connection-specific DNS suffix:
IPv4 address: 192.168.1.101
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway:192.168.1.1

Did something change on the computer or internet that made it drop his connection? The IP on the computers weren't manually set to begin with were they? As in yours, his, and who ever else may be on it?

Also, feel free to restart the modem again to see if it'll pick up all the settings, and restart his computer as well since it's on Obtain Automatically.

As far as I know nothing changed to initiate the drop. It worked yesterday when I left, he was on the computer but doesn't believe he changed anything. He shut down the computer. This morning on start up no connection.

I turned off the IPv6 and set the IPv4 to manual in an attempt to solve it. Ill try restarting both the modem and his computer again now.

still no luck, Ipconfig reads as above.

Is your computer set to automatic or manual IP configuration? If it's manual, it would be a good idea to get the person who set it up to give it an IP. Unless you have a office tech guy lol, then call him...

Wired or wireless connection? If wired try a different cable and or a different port on the switch or router it is connected to. If wireless, delete the connection and set it up again from scratch.

The IP address that it currently has indicates that it can't get an address from a DHCP server, which may mean it has lost it's connection to the network. The other thing you could try is to delete any leases it has on the DHCP server.

so I unplugged all the ethernet cables coming from the modem and plugged them back in and it seems to be working now, whether it was that or delayed reaction to re-setting it back to automatic and restarting it I'm not sure but at least its working. Thank you so much for your time.
