why are we not DIY? forget monarch, 'build fee's and 'test's. why opty 170/175 as opposed to 165? save $100/150 on the cpu, put a third of that towards a better mobo, another third on the HL2, and keep the remaining third for yourself - call it a service fee when you decide your oc your 165 to the same specs as oc'ed 170/175

What's wrong with opty 170 or 175? Then I could OC it higher than a 165. It does worry me that they have to test that crap before they send it. Do you know if someone had some bad experiences with monarch? And what is DIY??? And they dont charge build fee, well at least that I don't know of. :twisted: :evil:

DIY = Do It Yourself.
Monach tests, just to make sure nobody has a valid complaint against them. Mostly though, it's a hold over from the times when there were a lot more compatability issues.

i can oc my 3000+ to 2.6ghz on air at 1.55v stable but my ram would be ddr370 due to divider... so opty has to go higher

but my question is if 2.4ghz with ddr440 is better or 2.6ghz with ddr370...

the opty 165 holds its own against the 170/175... on the average, 170/175 may be a bit better than the 165 [i have no proof or disproof of this], but i can't see justification for spending an extra $100-200 for the minimal improvement, if there is any at all, unless one has money to burn.

Liquid cooling is the next step but its $$$. You have to look at how many heat watts you want to cool example: My current rig!
DFI NF4 SLI-DR expert
opty 170
g skill ddr 500
2 evga 7800 gtx
4x 74 wd raptors
SB x-fi
add chipset
currently at stock speeds I have roughly 450 to 550 watts of heat. I planned and built my liquid cooling solution to 800 watts so I have room to improve on ( hence I will OC which will raise the heat watts) whole thing is a custom rig to ensure futrue upgrades. everything! ram, cpu, g cards, chipset, and HDD's are all cooled. used mostly danger den, exception is the koolance solution for ram and HDD's. Added some high output fans too ( Panflo ultras rated at 120cfm and I have 4 of them in my CM 830 case with 2x black ice dual 120 xtreme rads ( its not loud but not quiet) NOTE this a active cooling solution there are passive solutions out there

Current cpu temp has I type this is 15c while ripping a DVD and WMP going! expect to reach temps around 32-35c load while OC'in but that remains to be seen!

Koolance.com and Danger has go insight on how to add plan and add up your thermal heat in watts! but then again its what you want to liquid cool!

Next inline is PHASED cooling.. now your talking $$$$

do the reseach!!! before you buy
