From Logitech's Web Site: "Keep in mind, however, that we haven’t designed the first two mice with Darkfield Laser Tracking for gamers"

so how much does it cost? cause if the extra cost to get this fancy mouse is more than a $5 mousepad, than I'm siding with the mousepad. yes, i'm a cheapo that cares more about performance...

You're going to drop $100 on this mouse since it's logitech's "new" technology. Although, this will probably come down in price in a few month (probably after Christmas). But I've gotta say that this is the best mouse that I've ever used. I've used other logitech products before and this is more responsive and very precise. I like the hidden thumb button which can be set to multiple functions. I don't really use the zoom button but modified it to close whatever application I'm in. I use it for gaming without a problem, and the comfort is good even after long hours of use.

Also, the receiver sticks out far enough to grab with the finger tips and comes out without a problem. It has a small groove around the edge which makes it easy to pick out. I got this mouse for a large part due to that. My work computer doesn't have bluetooth and I hate the dongles that stick out, and need to be unplugged, with other wireless mice. Leaving this receiver in at all times solves that problem for me, unfortunately it doesn't pair with logitech's previous products which don't support the new wireless method they're using.
