Although I am use to wireless gaming mice now (own a G7 and X8) I've always wanted to give the G5 a try, and now I have more of a reason to :)
I've always loved Logitech's quality products and their insane service, ex: as much as I prefer the comfort of the X8 (I like full handed mice), its laser tracking sucks compared to the G7, and you can customize dpi settings to the single digit, with the X8 its increments of 250 -.-
So yea, quality and service all the way

Is there going to be a g7 replacement too? My old mx1000 is getting worn out, and I don't like the poor battery system on the g7 ; patiently waiting for something better to come along.

Just picked up a G5 for $26 bucks, free shipping, and rebate. Also 5000+ DPI? That's insane, I have a hard time with 2000DPI, I can't imagine what 5000 is like.

No wireless mice for me. I have one daughter who is almost 4 and the 16 mo old is the one most likely to pull my keyboard and mouse off the keyboard tray. Wireless I would have to search the house to use my computer :)

I think I have a G5 at home, I never add any weight to it. The weight is perfect as is.

Gotta say I love my original G5. Had it for four/five years, and it's still working perfectly! The weights are really cool too since I like to have some resistance to movement. The G500 looks sorta of similar to the G5 v1, but I like the G5 better

I love my G5. Best mouse i have ever touched or even thought of touching.

Sadly though, even after just a year the left mouse click is slightly depressed so the surface is uneven. I wasn't really expecting that to happen after a year.

The G9 did have problems with the peeling... However, a call to Logitech and they told me that that was NOT supposed to happen, and replaced it, no questions asked. The G9 is my favorite mouse, even more so than my old RAZR 3G. If it were not so darned expensive, I would recommend it to all my gamer clients.

[citation][nom]kittle[/nom]My existing G5 is wearing out. mabye this one will work as good or better.I tried the other logictec gaming-like mice but all they did was severely aggrevate my CTS.[/citation]
Well thank god opinions are ones own thing and not facts. I personally like the look, a bit like my good old trusty g5, which has died :( Maybe I will try this one if it's better than my gigabyte ghost mouse. They modified it in a good way and improved the usefullness.

WOW, before they used to say, its was normal wear, now a quick look on there forum and they ARE replacing them. YAY!!!!
+1 to you!!!

I am currently using thr MX-310 laser mouse right now and it is very comfortable, and i got it 2 years ago. The best part of it is the back and forwards button and menu button which i don't use a lot. The only thing i wish it had was sideways scroll.

My only complaint with the G500 is it weights almost as much as a 'loaded' wireless mouse even without putting the weights yet! It's really heavy for a corded mouse but this is my first gaming(expensive!) mouse anyway so I don't know... I actually perform better with lighter weight mice but since I've been using a wireless mx3200 for over a year now, also for gaming, maybe I've adjusted nicely..

But still, I would rate it 10/10 as long as it don't break too soon. I play world of warcraft and battlefield 2 and the many buttons are a guaranteed advantage. I don't have problems with any buttons others are reporting.
