Well it's been a while since I have visited tomshardware.com and to my surprise there was a new look.

Well, I am a Linux user and I use Firefox for my browser. I was wondering why no one tested the website and what it looks like in a non-IE browser?

My desktop resolution is 1280x1024x24 and with my browser full screen everything is smashed to the left hand side on the main tomshardware site. the forums look fine. But I have about half my screen on the right hand side filled with grey.

I am not sure if this was an intentional look for the site but there is imo tons of wasted space. the site should be centered down the screen with it's current setup imo. Good looking site ruined by being completely to the left hand side with a half empty screen on the right hand side.

Just thought I would let you guys know.

Yeah, it looks like that on I.E too. My desktop rez is 1920*1200 and I think that the site wastes a lot of space in that manner. But I also know, they didn't design the site to run on high resolutions (not many do).

It looks fine on lower resolutions.

But I do think it would be much better for everyone if they would center the site, instead of left aligning it

I almost hate to be a "whiner", but I HATE the new site arrangement of Tom's Hardware. It is very difficult to find anything in the archived sections - you have to go forward into a "blind" archived-by-date article, then "back out" if that's not the article you wanted, then back into the next "blind date", then back out, etc., ad nauseum.... By "blind date"I mean the article title DOES NOT APPEAR in the archived area, only the date of the article!! VERY STUPID MOVE!

Just for your own entertainment, try looking up an article back in 2004; it will show you how NOT to design an archival section!

They should have asked THE USERS what they would like the site to do, rather than just redesign the site with some idiot in charge of the project.

Also, it would be VERY NICE if they ran a dual site, i.e., ran the new site simultaneously with the original (old) site and asked for user comments.

I am using Opera v8.5 as a browser, and am not having any of the display problems mentioned. Of course, I'm running low resolution (800*600), too!
