What I want to do with this new rig is mostly gaming maybe some streaming on the side... Just wanting to know if this is an okay build to upgrade up to? Suggestions are nice I prefer Intel over amd... I'm a Canadian so Canadian prices preferred. I will be using the Video card, the cpu cooler and hopefully the power supply from old build but the power supply is at least 5 years old now... but still running good! I think... :D
Thanks.

If your power supply is that old you should look into replacing it to prevent damage to your new components. Also the old one might not have the right connections or power handling ability your new parts will need.

Old Gen I7 is not worth buying anymore... Either coffee lake or Ryzen. GTX 960 is not strong enough, sell it for some money back. PSU is not reliable. For your budget, the following build suits you better, add HDD later:

Not being an AMD fanboy but the Ryzen 5 1600 will probably be better for you if you plan on streaming on the side and if you want to take it another step forward the Ryzen 7 1700 would be even better for gaming/streaming/editing video than the 1600/7700k the 7700k is known to lag when streaming and drop frames on stream. The 1700 is cheaper than the 7700k and there are ways to match the 7700k in FPS with some good RAM do you have any experience overclocking ram?

Ryzen route:

I'd recommend a better case maybe the p300/p400/s340

With this ram you will be able to overclock it and get tighter timings and a higher clock speed to pass the 7700k if not come very close to it in most games. As seen here in a video by MindBlank Tech : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6yp7Pi39Z8

If you don't plan on overclocking ram it is still a great CPU a lot more cores to work with you could just ask around on here maybe watch a few YouTube videos and learn how to OC your ram and add a lot of performance to ryzen
