Hey all,
I'm currently shopping for a new monitor. Desirable features include:
- Excellent colors (IPS panel ideally, good contrast ratio)
- 3D capable (passive 3D is preferred as it is more convenient - not to mention, the only form compatible with current IPS panels as far as I know)
- 1080p (any higher and my card won't be happy)
- No more than $400
- Between 23 and 27 inches (27 is ideal, if pixilation isn't too big of an issue)
- Decent response time and refresh rate - I play multiplayer games semi-competitively, but I'm not terribly picky in this regard. No more than 5ms. 60Hz is fine. Don't mind
Now, I've done a fair amount of research on my own. I was able to find a couple of different passive 3D IPS monitors, but unfortunately none of them seem to be available anymore. Most notably, I'm interested in the VG27AH/VG23AH: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236304 ----- for some reason, these monitors appear to be unavailable in new condition. I'm only finding used, and generally they are overpriced. Are there any other similar products that are still on the market? Is there a reason the passive 3D IPS monitors aren't around anymore?
I'm also considering the VG248QE: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA24G1XA5128 --- I'm aware that this monitor is a TN panel with active 3D only. How does the color quality of this monitor compare to IPS panels? Is it close? Or would I be better off buying a plain ole' IPS monitor without 3D?
