It's been about 8 years since I built a system from scratch so I'm almost a newbie again. My old ASUS/AMD server/CPU died a horrible death (need to replace both) so I need to build a new system. Searching on Newegg is pretty useless; it shows me a bunch of overpowered gaming boards. I'm hoping that people can make a few recommendations based on these requirements.
  • At least 6 but preferably 7 or 8 SATA 6gb/s connections
  • DVI (or VGA) out (OK if I need to get a CPU with integrated graphics)
  • 2 gigabit ethernet ports
  • A few extra fan headers
  • Overall low power profile (24/7 operation).
  • Only used for NAS and a handful of low-CPU apps.
Thanks in advance!
