Looking for a cooler that falls between a 212 EVO and a NH-D14

Hi there,

I'm in the market for a cooler for my FX-6300. I'm looking to do a fairly heavy overclock (4.5 with possibly more in the future) and am concerned the 212 might hold me back so I was looking for the next step up from the EVO.

Looking around, the most common recommendation seems to be the Noctua NH-D14, but this seems like a big leap. Is there anything that falls between these two coolers?

I'm fine with spending $50-75.

Thanks for any info!

Also, if the 212 EVO is capable of keeping up with a heavy overclock on the 6300 then let me know. I'd just rather spend the extra bucks to be on the safe side if I can.

Well I think my case (NZXT Source 210 Elite) can fit the NH-d14 with room to spare and that one is 160mm. I'll take a look at those as well :)

Your case supports coolers up to 160mm so there's a kind of limitation there and the tow tall coolers in my previous post won't fitt. The hr-02 macho might fitt but is just over 160mm as well (=162mm)

The NH-D14 should fitt and is a very good choice. It's within your budget,

If you have really high profile ram will it not fitt. You would have to remove the coolers in that case.

Otherwise maybe something like this,

or at the top budget,
