I haven't used a mouse pad in about 10 years, and have never used a gaming mouse pad. I've always noticed that when I'm gaming on my desk that I have no problem making wide swinging motions that end precisely where I wanted or quick snappy movements. What I do have problems doing is moving pixel by pixel. The desk being very flat gives that wide surface area that ends up feeling as though the bottom of the mouse is slightly sticky. The obvious reason is too much static friction (the resistance when you first start moving the mouse from a resting position).
I don't play any specific genre over any other, but in genres where you can I usually like to be stealthy/snipers/etc where you need pixel precision and the quick snappy movements at the same time. So, what I'm hoping to find out is which mouse pads have the lowest static friction that still allow for quick movements with precise stopping.
I'm not looking to spend a ton and have been specifically looking at the SteelSeries QcK Heavy. From what I've read it has a good mix of what I'm looking for, but there's not a ton of talk out there about how smooth small movements are.
TL;DR: Need advice on a mouse pad that has low static friction for precise small movements but not so slick that I can't stop precisely when doing larger movements. SteelSeries QcK Heavy?
