Looking for a good CPU

Hello. I am in the market for a replacement cpu to my AMD FX-4300 Quad Core Processor. I have never swapped a processor out of my case before.
My current motherboard is: 760GM-P34(FX) and I was just wondering if an i5 or an i7 is compatible with my motherboard. I'm unsure on the specifics regarding motherboard compatibility with processing units. Thanks in advance!

You will need to get a new motherboard if you want a intel CPU. What is your budget?

Around 200-300. I'm assuming only AMD's are compatible with the motherboard because I saw no mention of Intel in the compatibility list. I just wanted to be sure.

Yes that cpu supports AM3+ processors only. Going with intel tho wouldn't be a bad idea but you will need to use more money since you have to buy a new motherboard aswell. But if you want to stick with AMD the FX 8350 would be the thing for you.
