Hello friends,

My graphics card died recently and I am looking for changing it which to say the least doesn't get that hot. I had an R9 280x, and while playing games like Doom 2016, temperature shot up to 66 deg C(as seen in AMD radeon settings) or more as the pc shut down while playing and the card died. Unfortunately I don't have warranty so I would have to go for a new one.

My main requirements are gaming on windows, heat efficient so this incident does not happen again. My budget is 400 Euro or 30,000 INR(http://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=30000&From=INR&To=EUR). Please note that I am in India, some products arrive late in India.

I have no discrimination against Nvidia or AMD, whichever serves my purpose well without the graphics card burning itself out in glory, it should be fine. Thank you.

GTX 1060 releasing today! MSRP for the Indian market is 24,999.

So expect anything between 24,999 and 30,000! I doubt it can go over 30,000.

Wait for the official not leaked benchmarks though.

nVidia claim that the GTX 1060 will be a GTX 980 killer and if their claims turn out to be true then hands down go for the GTX 1060 :)

Also, 66 deg C is a relatively low temp for a GPU while gaming, especially AMD!

Are you sure your GPU is dead? A lot of other factors can cause your PC to shut down!

66C is really good dude. As madmatt30 said you worrying about high temps running a 9590 is a bit insane. The GTX 1060 and RX 480 are good choices, but if you want really cool temps you would probably want to water cool it, but that's expensive and you could probably expect about 50C with that, and you're worried about 66C temps. For 400 euro you could see if you could get a GTX 1070... Like one of the ACX versions, not the founders edition.

9590 is liquid cooled, this was not. The pc shut down, and the only thing that revived it was when I changed the graphics card.

Any idea how much time it takes?

I guarantee you that your GPU didn't die to go high temps, as 66 isn't high. Usually when people talk about that they talk about like 88 and 90 run like 24/7. The GTX 1060 or the RX 480 are your best upgrade bets IMO. The $199 version of the RX 480 is more than enough for 1080 and 1440, and its price per performance is leaps and bounds ahead of the 1060. Hell, you could get two of them like Jayztwocents did and it will beat the GTX 1070 and almost beat a GTX 1080, just as long as you get over your GPU temperature phobia 😀

Thank you. Haha, It's not a phobia, that's the only cause I have now. Well, doesn't matter as the warranty has expired and I cannot do anything about it.

I don't have an oven, but will definitely try this at my friends place, what's the worst that can happen at this point of time.. 😀
