I'm looking to pick up a new router, I've looked at the nighthawks and the asus and the high end linksys routers but i have no idea what to pick. I've always used just a simple $50 one but with my kids getting older and having tablets plus smart phones i need to get something that can keep up with those plus my gaming on the pc. Does any one have a good suggestions? Or if you have one of the above ones what do you like/dislike about them
Price would be under $300 usd

The Asus new Tri band is a really fast router .... if you're willing to spend $300, that's a fine choice as is the Nighthawk ... dropping down from 3.2 Gbps to 2.4 doesn't save any significant money. I favor the Nighthawk .... reading user reviews it seems to be less finicky and while Netgear support is by no means stellar, Asus is has been a real bear in the last 2 years or so. I have never had good luck w/ Linksys

The newer AC routers are only as good as the devices connected to them Most devices don't have wireless AC adapters.

I'd suggest going for a bit less 'top of the line, latest and greatest' and get a less expensive but perfectly capable router.

Here's a suggestion or two:
