Hi, I'm new to RPG's and am looking for a great fantasy type one. Something where you go on quests, etc. I've played Fable I & II on Xbox, but I'm looking for something on PC now. I was thinking about Fable 3, but I'm hesitant to buy it as I've heard mixed reviews about it. Also, I'm using keyboard and mouse, so I need it to be a game that's controls work well with KB and M.

I picked it up for like 5-7 bucks a few months ago. I actually didn't think it was that bad. A lot of the negative reviews were based on the bugs. And most of the bugs have been fixed.

For a bargain price I think its worth picking up. I got plenty of hours out of it.

I rented it for the 360 sometime ago, the bugs didnt seem so bad, but it was more or less the character interactions, the facial features and the storyline, it was all just seemingly lame and bland, I almost fell asleep 30 minutes into playing it lol

you really need to play fallout tactics, a old game, but a beast for its time, this game blew me away and I spent so many hours into it, its like a diablo3 interface with a "seemingly" open world

Yeah, character interactions and facial features could have used some work. Storyline was a little odd. I didn't get why they chose your sister? haha.

On top of that you played/tried the console version 😀

Wow all these recommendations, several from Bioware and not a single mention of NWN2? The most customizable and epic RPGs ever made.

Slightly Older games,
NWN2, Witcher,
Elder Scrolls IV (didn't really like it, but was ok)
Fallout

Really old games,
NWN / IWD / BG2 / Diablo II

Newer games,
Witcher II
Dragon Age I / II

NWN2 tends to have a high learning curve due to its reliance on DnD 3.5E rules but is positively the most re-playable and customizable RPG I've ever played. The best part is you can bring a small group of your friends in with you, adds a whole different dynamic when you ratchet the difficulty to "Hardcore PnP rules" and try to get through the OC or expansions. And later you can just grab a custom module (or design your own if your into that) off the internet and play through them with your friends.

noone mentioned NWN2, because as far as gaming community is concerned, NWN2 was *** compared to NWN1. The right for the game were sold to another company that did a half-assed job with it. Yeah sure the story is about good, but has the game gotten better since NWN1, no it hasn't, sorry. You can get plenty of mods for NWN1, none of the features of NWN2 make it any better.

the graphic enhances are somewhat better, as far as the levels, they bore me to death, it just seems like its too much of a d@d game, bc the level designs were just poorly made imo, but yet I still beat it, and I own a castle, that my friends was worth playing till that part, so I wouldn't say that it is crap compared to the first, it just took a different direction or leap if you will

It played like a D&D game because it ~is~ a D&D game haha. And having played both versions in great depth as well as creating content for both I can say NWN2 beat out NWN1. The newer develops were given the source to NWN1 and they just expanded and updated the engine to more "modern" standards. That is all NWN1/2 are, just game engines designed to provide whatever content their fed. The developers then built the OC and over time the expansions as examples of what you ~could~ do. Players built so much more content that is available on the web. Everything from new class's and PrC's, new spells, new animations, new models, new rules and many many new levels and adventures. Its "re-playability" is unmatched by any other RPG by the simple fact that you can import content easily.

Which makes me wonder exactly how much "play" was actually done by AntiZig.
