Looking for a GTX 460 replacement

Hello there

I have an old rig since 2011 with a gigabyte GTX 460 and a Phenom X4
I've used it a lot without major issue, but since some months it is mostly used by my boys to play Fortnite. Last week I had a BSOD/repair loop and in spite of a lot of effort and ultimately a clean reinstall I was not able to fix it.
There was some video artefacts at the POST and each time i'd try graphics mode (on liveusb linux distros), so I suspected a video card issue.
I've borrowed a Quadro 2000 from work, and at least I can reinstall windows without glitch.

I've run a 3D mark test and it's doing quite well, but I'm not sure if I can safely buy a replacement card or if I have to test also for PSU problem.

If I go for a replacement, would a 710/1030/1050 be a good choice?

I'm not looking for a huge performance boost, like I've said it is to play fortnite, and maybe also some indy/old games (Skyrim/Dishonored2).

Thank you for your attention

Forget about the GT 710, it's barley enough for HD video :)
The 1030 would be on par with the 460, and use far less power.
If you want an upgrade, then the 1050 would be easily double the performance.
A 1030 DDR5 should do alright on Fortnite. Less expensive, depending where you buy it, would be a DDR5 GT 730. Of course that's not as good. Forget the 710. A 1050 is substantially better, although it does cost more. It's more versatile, in that it would allow your boys to play at higher settings/framerate if that's important.

thank you for your answers, I think I will gor for a 1050. Will it do good even with my relatively old motherboard/CPU? I only have PCI-E 2

Do you think that the graphics card was the only failure point?

The gen 2 PCIe isn't a problem as it's backward and forward compatible. The only slight concern is your motherboard recognizing the card, so it's best to install the latest BIOS version you can find for it.

It sounds like the graphics card is the main issue, given the PC worked with the quadro card.
