Hello, I have recently been interested in building a laptop, but I haven't been successful in finding a legitimate laptop build guide, I keep finding troll videos when I'm generally interested in building one. Is it a mainstream thing? I would really like to know, and if anyone knows of any laptop build guides, that would be great!

I want to build a laptop for gaming with an i7 processor and a cheap mobile gpu so I use my laptop for work on the go, and when I get home, plug an external desktop gpu into it for gaming using an external pcie board.

That is an excellent gaming laptop. You can always look for the instruction manual for that laptop to find out what you can upgrade easily. It takes a while to find that kind of info, but its worth knowing if you want to save money by installing your own upgrades.
Laptops are mostly costum build by their manufactures, so you won't find any parts that you can put together as you would with a pc. Some brands sell barebone laptops, on which you can configure the CPU, GPU, components, screen, etc:
Rjtech.com
Xoticpc.com

Or other sites that sell clevo/sager.

That's the whole reason I wanted to build one, the customizers for laptops are stupidly overpriced. Also I live in the U.K so I need a website in pounds

That's what I was thinking about doing, I found a nice laptop that had an i7 4710mq and a 860m for around £750, so I was looking at that
