Hello, everyone. Basically, my situation is that I have just moved back home from college and my parents' internet connection is not so great. They have a bundled contract with ATT Uverse for internet, phone, and cable. The internet speed is at about 18mbps download and 1.9mbps upload. This is not exactly ideal considering that while I was at school I did a lot of video streaming and gaming in my downtime which requires a pretty strong upload and download speed. I had tried calling AT&T to upgrade the internet service to the highest speed that they offer, which is 45mbps, but I was told that, "this connection speed is not available for your address. The highest we can give you is 18mbps." I don't entirely understand why the 45mbps connection speed isn't available, but I'm assuming it probably has something to do with fiber optics. However, I digress. My question is this: are there any other options that I can pursue in order to get the desired connection speed? Would it be possible for me to have a personal connection set up through comcast even though my parents go through AT&T (I know this may seem like a dumb question, but I felt as though it was worth asking.) Is there perhaps some out of the box solution that I haven't thought of quite yet? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you very much for your time.

Uverse should be a form of DSL. So you are still limited by distance. You should be able to setup a cable account. Might need to get 'parental permission" but it should be doable. Out of the box idea would be sat or OTA net. Neither of which is good for gaming.

Thanks for your help! I'll be calling Comcast within the next couple of days to get some prices for just an internet cable connection.
