I am currently using a small old monitor, i want to buy a new one.
My pc has gtx 1060 6gb and I7 - 6700 3.4 ghz.
I want a 27 inch or maybe 24 inch monitor with 2560x1440 resolution.
The games I play are GTA V, arma 3, simulations and strategy games.
I will happy to know if you have any recommendations for a suitable monitor in a budget of up to 400 USD.
I thought about AG271QX or Q2778VQE but I am looking maybe to a monitor which is not TN.

Other than what was recommended above, it's either ASUS PG279Q/PG278QR or bust because youre an Nvidia user and most cheap monitors at 1440p now and days are for AMD freesync and you might as well empty out your pocket and sell your car for the best monitor, since it's the only thing you don't really have to upgrade for 10+ years.

Is ultra wide suitable also for games that are not FPS like cities skylines or victoria 2?
Also What do you think about the two monitors I listed above? I barely understand in this but they seem fine to me.

I can't speak to those games in particular, but I was surprised to learn that even a non-FPS game like Don't Starve actually makes use of the increased field of view that an ultra-wide monitor gives you.

Oddly, Fallout 4 has some strange issues with ultra-wide - or so my brother tells me. I don't own the game myself.

The downside will be that affordable 2560x1080 monitors will have FreeSync (an AMD technology) rather than Gsync (Nvidia technology) for the variable refresh rate functionality. So, most likely you'll be getting a FreeSync monitor, but simply not being able to use the FreeSync feature. Gsync monitors command a premium.

Still, I use an Nvidia card with an ultra-wide that has FreeSync.. I wish Nvidia would support FreeSync, but I've lived without it with no problem.

Running Freesync with an Nvidia card shouldn't make you feel discouraged btw. Its just the cheaper monitor option now and days.. But if you can avoid it, G-SYNC is a good investment.

Thank you for answering.
I do not think I will buy an ultra wide monitor. I do not want to be limited to only games that support ultra wide screens. If you can still recommend me some 27 or 24 inch monitors in my budget it would be helpful.

If you turn down the details, you should be able to do about 60fps for most games.

You shouldn't fear ultra-wide screens, though. In games that don't support it, you just don't get the extra field-of-view. Only a very small number have strange issues with it (even Fallout 4 still works, just some oddities with the heads-up display). No game is going to fail to run because you're using an ultra-wide.

Absolute worst possible case, you would have to run a stubborn game at 1920x1080 (I think Broforce has this issue) rather than 2560x1080.

The gtx 1060 will still give you 40-55 FPS on 2560 x 1440p. I used a GTX 970 with an ASUS PG278QR for over a year and had 0 complaints. Just take a second and think about your investment. Eventually you're going to upgrade that 1060 in the future, and you're not going to want to stare at ugly 1080p fuzzyness when you can have crisp 1440p clarity. I always tell gamers to spend more on their monitor than their GPU. Because the GPU will always become obsolete before the monitor does. You will likely purchase 2-3 GPU upgrades before having to buy a new monitor.

If you want to drive 1440p with that gtx 1060, then go for it and get G-Sync. You'll be set for at least 10 years and not require a monitor upgrade.

Atleast with G-Sync, 50 FPS will feel like 60 FPS and the dips to 45 FPS won't be noticeable. You'll be surprised how well G-Sync works.

In addition, even if you want the extra FPS, you can still play on 1080p using your 1440p display, Just lower the resolution down..

I do not plan on upgrading that GPU anytime soon. I dont like to spend money and I am looking for a monitor that will work well with GPU for a few years. What do you think about the monitor I mentioned before?

Dell Gaming S2716DGR.

If this is the monitor you're mentioning then I'd say go for it. You'll only be contradicting yourself and agreeing with what I said above lol...

The only screen better than the Dell Gaming S2716DGR is the ASUS PG278QR..
