First of all, you can't overclock the i5-4440 (you will only be able to change the BCLK. And I do not recommend doing that!)

The choice of motherboard really depends on a lot of things. Aesthetics, features, reliability etc. It would be unwise to try and suggest a motherboard without know what you are looking for. The same goes for the case, just make sure the two fit.

When selecting RAM, just go with the big brands. They're all pretty good and you should basically just go with what's cheapest or looks best. One think to look for is CAS latency, you will want that to be low. I.e if the choice is between a 1600 MHz CL11 and a 1600 MHz CL10. Go with the CL10.

Starting out with 8GB RAM is a good call, then you will be able to upgrade later without spending much.

As far as the PSU goes. Use this list: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html
You will want to get at least a tier 3 (only get a tier three if you can't afford any better). Preferably get a tier 2 or 1.

Thanks for your reply. What do you think of the GTX 960 GPU?

It's a powerful GPU, and a bit overkill for your resolution. But the CPU can handle it. You will probably max most games out at 720p.

At the minute mate the fx6300 is proving to be good for anything recently released - mine is stomping through black ops 3 at a locked 60fps, GTA v between 45-60fps , ark survival lowest ive seen is 28fps (badly optimised) .

Admittedly with a 970 but its showing the CPU isn't holding it back majorly.
