I'm looking for an (external) powered USB 3.0 hub with at least 8 ports such that
a) There's a port for charging AND transferring data at the same time. It must be able to charge an iPad.
b) I would like to use my laptop to wake / sleep the hub. It means if my laptop is off, the hub (and all devices connecting to it) must be off (the charging port is not important).
c) I can use 4 external hard drives on it at the same time.
I've been looking for a good hub like this for a long time, but I don't see any hub meeting my second condition.

Does anyone know a hub like that? Thank you very much.

Thanks for your recommendation. The hub looks great, but I have a few questions. It seems to me that the charging port is only for charging and cannot transfer data at the same time. Also, do you know that when I turn my computer off, all of the devices should be off whether or not the buttons are pressed?

For me, this hub
https://www.amazon.com/Upgraded-Anker-SuperSpeed-Including-Charging/dp/B005NGQWL2/ref=sr_1_7?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1466025600&sr=1-7&keywords=anker+usb+hub
looks perfect, but it's powered 24/7 which means my laptop cooling and external fan run 24/7. It doesn't make sense.

Thanks again.

you could add a switch to one of the power lines and now it will just switch off.
needs electrical tape, switch, knife
you could plug the entire setup laptop and hub and everything else into a power bar and when the pc switches off, flip the switch on the power bar and everything will shut off

Thank you. I want to keep it simple. Right now, I'm using 2 hubs: the one (without power adapter) connecting directly to my laptop running laptop cooling and external fan with switches always ON, and the other one, Anker as in the link, (with power adapter) connecting to the first hub running my hard drives. As you can see, the fans and cooling pads work together with my laptop, while the drives can turn itself off automatically when they're not in use. I use my laptop like a "control", no switches needed.
However, I found this setup bulky taking a lot of spaces, so I'm looking for an alternative.
