Most games use one or two cores and a few others 3 or 4 cores maybe. Not many games uses more than 4cores anyways. But they certainly gain from faster cores than more cores. i3-6100 is a one of the best budget gaming chips and outperforms most AMD chips in gaming benchmarks. Not to mention that the current generation of AMD chips are atlest 5 to 6 yrs old.
