I'm currently trying to hunt down a safe brand and suitable wattage level for my current computer.

I've just recently had a sour experience with a Corsair CX600. The fan bearings failed after a week usage and the motherboard freaked out by what i can only guess was a power surge / short out . I have never had that happen in all my years owning and building PC's.

I cant refund the CX600 because the receipt of purchase is long gone , it is within warranty but, i dont know if i want to risk sending it off to get another that's just going to fail again quickly considering that it seems to be one of corsairs worst units.

So , based on my specs below -

G7 Extreme 580W PSU (Unbranded but its lasted 2 years, glad i kept it around to fall back on)
Intel Core i5 3450 @ 3.10GHz on a Gigabyte H61M-DS2 DVI
8GB Ram
ASUS 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 640
500GB Hybrid SSD
Arctic Freezer Cooler.

What would be a safer wattage and fairly reasonably priced PSU? I plan to buy a GTX 750i or similar quite soon.

Solution
Currently one of the best performance/ dollar units available: XFX TS 650W 80+ Gold

- This is a quality PSU made with parts from Seasonic
- Plenty of wattage for your rig
- Well-reviewed tier 2 unit that should last you a good long time, MUCH more reliable than the CX series.

Power Supply: XFX TS 650W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply ($44.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $44.99
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Your current build will pull around 250W (and upgrading to a 750 Ti won't make any/much difference).

The XFX unit suggested is a good unit. Alternatively, if you don't mind spending more, EVGA's G2 series 550W would be a very good choice, and comes with a 10 year warranty (I would note that probably the only real point would be EVGA's known-to-be-good service): http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-220g20550y1

Good estimate with usage thats about right :), i'll also research into that pne you've posted. :)
