Heya,

I'm just after some advice on what's the best way to keep a document in cloud/web storage in the most secure way. All it will have is password hints, some Steam CD keys for account recovery if needed, and some hints for banking details.

I'm actually tempted just to print this stuff out and lock it in a box, but wondering if there's a solution beyond that, other than saving a Word doc to One Drive with a password or whatever.

Is anything out there that's crazy secure? Paid or not?

Ta :)

What do you believe the probability of someone PURPOSEFULLY attempting to break into the document?
The strength of the encryption depends on the version of Word.
But using a minimum of 12 character password is one of the best things you can do.

Hugely unlikely, but devastatingly irreparable should it occur.

It really depends on how convenient you want future access to be.

You could say, hide your encoded plain text in something like an EICAR test file, and encrypt it.
Put the resulting file into a zip folder along with a bunch of other encrypted virus type files, and password protect that.
Then encrypt the zip file with PGP/GPG (while that can also compress individual files while encrypting them, only the commercial versions can zip multiple files together while doing so)

Getting the document back out will be cumbersome but by the time even some government entity will be able to sort that all out using quantum computers, you'll be long dead. It's not only protected by layers of cryptography but hidden in a set of files an antivirus researcher would use. Or you could choose a folder of drivers, programs or pretty much anything else text can fit into
