what are you thinking about gpu wise??

Solution
Thanks for the suggestions. For GPUs I was thinking of getting at least one

MSI R6870 Twin Frozr II Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127545

I was thinking of adding more GPUs as upgrades for future proofing.

Does the MB that you listed allow graphics to be used from the CPU? I may want to get most of the system up and add the GPUs a bit later.

I had not considered multiple monitors, but that would fit in line with the multiple GPU design and I am seriously considering it now. The link to the first monitor suggestion doesn't work: could you re-post it?

The Corsair h60 liquid CPU cooler looks very nice. Installation looks like it would be pretty straight forward. Do you have experience installing these and how easy/hard is it?

All in all some very interesting suggestions. I believe that the i5 CPU will probably be sufficient as you mentioned. I was on the fence about this until your suggestion.

well....that gpu isnt that great i think you should put your money into 1 6950 2gb. http://www.amazon.com/PowerColor-DisplayPort-PCI-Express-AX6950-1GBD5-2DH/dp/B004LXBG9G/ref=sr_1_18?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1312857832&sr=1-18 (2>1 gtx 580, 3>2 gtx 580's for less!)

no it doesnt allow the graphics to be used....

hanns-g 27.5"- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824254052&Tpk=hanns%20g%2027.5 270$

i have only installed the hyper 212 plus and that is way more difficult than the h60. installing it should be pretty easy.

overall i would work your way up to a tri monitor & tri crossfire setup. that should be pretty awesome
